Cash box proximity reader unable to read some cards: RESOLVED

The issue has been successfully resolved.  Nashua has not received any further complaints and have fully tested all cards in their possession that were not working.

Cash box proximity reader unable to read some cards (update)

Updated 2014/04/30

Great news!!! Inepro Canada has sent a fix which was implemented by Nashua over the weekend. If you were one of the unfortunate people to have experienced the issue below, please test your card when you are next at one of our cash boxes.

We have successfully tested the cards we have that were not working and the issue appears to be resolved.

Updated 2014/04/10

Inepro Canada has requested UCT send some working card samples that are currently in circulation for further testing and comparison.

Updated 2014/04/02

A crisis meeting was called by Nashua with Equitrac on Monday 31/03/2014 at the ICTS offices.

Equitrac have escalated this to their developers Inepro in Canada for urgent resolution. We unfortunately do not have a timeline as yet but will keep you informed.

Original message

At the start of term we encountered some students who were unable to load credits on the newly converted proximity reader cash boxes.  Those students had been supplied with new proximity only cards (no magstripe). Fortunately only a small portion of students are affected as the majority have dual cards (both magstripe and proximity capabilities).  Students with the dual cards are able to make use of the magstripe reader on the cash box as an alternative should they encounter a problem.

Option 1: We can and have been offering the students an alternative where we manually load the credits for them at the Chancellor Oppenheimer Document Centre.

Option 2: To simplify the process and cause less inconvenience until the issue is resolved, we have made our Electronic Web Deposit service available prior to its launch to assist students in purchasing credits, using their credit cards, online. Nashua has requested that Equitrac, the software provider, add the debit card option.  We will make it available shortly.

Slow authentication at Nashua devices yesterday (update)

Updated 2014/04/23

Yesterday morning all Nashua devices on Campus experienced slowness when authenticating users.  Nashua technicians investigated but could not find any issues server related.  Nashua has logged a call with ICTS to investigate what could have impacted the service.  The issue has since resolved itself as of late yesterday morning and all areas indicate that authentication is no longer and issue.

Both print queues are stable and monitored on a daily basis.

Latest print client points to a problematic queue (update)

Updated 2014/04/01

Both print queues are currently working and will be monitored on a daily basis.

Updated 2014/03/31

Unfortunately the fix provided by Equitrac did not work.  Nashua is however monitoring the situation until a permanent fix can be applied and will use the workaround should the issue arise again.

Update on the message below dd. 2014/03/28

The problematic queue has been fixed (workaround), however, to prevent the issue from reoccurring Nashua will go ahead with the maintenance slot and apply the patch provided by Equitrac.

Dear All,

Please be advised that we are aware of the printing problem being experienced in certain areas on campus. Currently the system is uploading the print request but the user is not seeing their documents and are thus incapable of releasing them to print. We suspect a problem in the specific printer queue. We have arranged for a maintenance slot on Friday the 28th of March at 10:00pm to rectify this problem. The printers in the Centlivres labs will however permit users to select an alternate printer queue that is working as interim measure to ensure continuity of Service. The Lab administrator has been advised accordingly.  For staff who are experiencing this issue, please contact the Nashua helpdesk.
